Weston Homes and the Estates & Agency Group have secured planning permission to carry out a £350 million regeneration of Abbey Retail Park in Barking and create a new riverside urban village.
The new scheme, named Abbey Quays, will comprise nearly 1.2 million sq ft of space and will deliver:
– 1,089 new homes
– 22,281 sq ft of commercial/leisure space
– a 6,857 sq ft training centre/gym
– 11,528 sq ft of employment space
– 5,059 sq ft of community space
– and a community-hub/reception
The 1,089 homes will consist of 737 private sale one, two and three bedroom apartments and penthouses and 352 (35% of all habitable rooms) affordable housing units (including affordable rent, shared ownership and discount market-sale tenures) split across three buildings, ranging from seven to 29 storeys.
