Off the back of the announcement that it is no longer going ahead with developments to its Stamford Bridge Stadium due to “the current unfavourable investment climate”, Chelsea Football Club has withdrawn from a pre-let deal to take up the 80,000 sq ft Parklife Building in Putney as its new headquarters, and as a result Hermes Investment Management and Landid Property have been forced to shelve their renovation of the scheme.

Landid gained permission to develop the site in 2016, and plan to eventually create a large, multi-use scheme offering plenty of occupier amenities such as cycling and shower facilities, yoga lessons and cafés, as well as 7,000 sq ft of flexible public retail space overlooking Wandsworth Park. However, construction cannot start until a pre-let is found.

Landid development director James Silver says, “We are continuing to have talks with a range of potential occupiers about taking space in the building, which will give modern, forward-thinking businesses everything they need in a contemporary workplace”.
