With a massive shortage of office space across Central London, there was welcome news in Deloitte’s most recent Crane Survey that there is approximately just over 9 million square foot of office space currently under construction. Although a third of this has already been let, the prospective space that should ease the pressure on the capital’s increasing demand should be felt by 2016. So what big new developments will be joining the now infamous London skyline developments that are world renown; from the Shard in SE1, to the Gherkin, Cheesegrater and Walkie Talkie that dominate the City’s skyline, London is benefitting from some of the most iconic skyscrapers in the World. 

Ollie Salter, surveyor at tenant acquisition specialist Morgan Pryce, reviews some of the choice developments that have caught his eye,

“London has become used to new high rise office buildings, with quirky nicknames and the new developments follow in the same vein. ‘The Cucumber’, aka 2 Merchant Square will be a mixed use scheme due for completion at the back end of 2019 and will be a major addition to the regeneration of Paddington. 

Another development that is exciting is ‘The Scalpel’ at 52-54 Lime Street, which will stand at over 620 ft tall and bringing over 400,000 square foot of new space to the market. It is due to be complete by 2017 and could look similar to the Shard, with its defining sharp features.”

The new developments will bring much needed space to the capital and further improve London’s new look skyline.”
