The famous Battersea Power station has been getting ready for a massive redevelopment which will include a mix of residential, retail, office space and a roof garden. The development is planned to bring a centre to the community but with a trendy and out of the box feel, encouraging creative types to come and make the most of what it will have to offer.

A main feature of the development will be the “creative corner” with the listed power station as the centrepiece, this will also include cultural education, leisure attractions, and restaurants. 

Designed by Wilkinson Eyre Architects the development will be very unique, when asked about their inspiration they explained that one part of the development named Malaysian square is said to look like an urban canyon. In places like Malaysia, Arizona and Utah you get very interesting rock formations created by the natural environment and this will try to be replicated in this square as a feature wall. 

Teresa Beatty, a commercial surveyor at Morgan Pryce said “This development will be very popular for tech and media companies who want a creative environment but without the run down warehouse look.”

The plans for the Power station will also be to embrace flexible work spaces which is becoming more and more popular after it has largely been seen how practical hot desking is.
