A Chinese dome like architectural piece, designed by the British – Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid has been created to house a Mediterranean village, a water park, shopping centre, ice-skating and an array of hotels. All this is located on 19 million square foot of space under a 100 metre high glass ceiling providing warmth to its visitors 24 hours a day all year round via its own artificial sun. 

The building, named as the New Century Global Centre took three years to complete and is the largest freestanding building in the work, according the Chinese officials. New Century Global Centre is located in the Chinese mega-city of Chengdu, where 6,000 holiday makers can visit to enjoy the artificial beach even though the city is 620 miles away from the coast. The design according to its developers is themed on a profound oceanic culture. 

The new building is positioned in Tinafu’s district which is a new hub for IT, finance and biochemical industries. It provides offices that are both comfortable and elegant as well as entertainment facilities. For the citizens of this Centre there seems to be no reason to leave but there may be an issue with being unable to escape work. But this concept doesn’t put off the developers and as part of their promotional video, they mentioned it is a place “where recreation has become the core value of modern business concepts and business will become a way of life.
