Late last year, a very controversial plan for the Goodsyard in Shoreditch was purposed. This plan included 1,464 homes and over half a million square feet in office space along with 215,000 sq. ft. in retail space. These plans are heavily opposed due to the height of the seven towers which will make it up, as two of the towers will be similar height to the Walkie-Talkie and tower42 in the city. It is said towers like this will “damage the whole local environment”. 

The new purposed space will still be a mixed scheme, meaning it will include retail, office space and housing but will mainly focus on making office space which will contribute towards a global cluster point in which they hope Shoreditch will become.

It is also said that the purposed plan will not contribute to the housing crisis in London, although it will produce more housing it is anticipated to be brought by overseas investors. 

Hammerson and Ballymore have indicated that there proposal is led by what is do-able on the site. They would not need to build so high if they could put piles on more than 30% of the site.
